The sea off Kalpitiya is home to spinner, bottlenose, and Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins, whales, sea turtles, and the elusive dugong. Alankuda is a beach area in Kalpitiya which contains several beach hotels and is the starting point for off-shore whale and dolphin watching and also provides a lot of water-related activities.
