Temple of Tooth Relic:
Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka which is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy. This is where the relic of the tooth of the Buddha has been preserved. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple.
Kandy is located approximately 120 kilometers away from Colombo in the mountainous and thickly forested interior of the island in between Knuckles mountain range and the Hanthana Mountain Range at an elevation of 500 meters above the sea level. It is located adjacent to the Kandy Lake and the South of Udawatta Kele Sanctuary.
Peradeniya Botanical Garden:
Royal Botanic Gardens is situated in Peradeniya, about 5.5 km to the west of the city of Kandy at an altitude 460 meters above sea level in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. The longest river in Sri Lanka, Mahaweli is found near the Botanic Gardens. The garden houses more than 4000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees with the National Herbarium of Sri Lanka’’ attached to it. The total area of the garden is 147 acres. Today approximately 2 million visitors visit this garden every year.
