DAY 2: NEGOMBO - SIGIRIYA
Travel Time: 3 Hrs/ 149 kms

In the afternoon Exclusive jeep safari in Minneriya National
park (Optional). More spectacular than possibly any other wildlife event
in Sri Lanka is what is known as the ‘Gathering’. During the
dry season (July to September) when water supplies start to
diminish, more and more animals congregate around the
Minneriya reservoir where the grasses are rich and fertile. For
several months of this drought season different herds of wild
elephants gather at the reservoir. They come from areas
beyond Minneriya, and at any one time it is possible to
witness up to 300 to 400 elephants. They are not migrating,
they are simply ‘gathering’, to socialize, bathe, drink, feed and
possibly mate. Other time visit Eco park or the Kaudulla Wild
life national park.

DAY 3: SIGIRIYA
Morning visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress
Sigiriya Rock Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
which is known as the 8th wonder of the world.
This rock fortress was built by King Kasyapa in the
5th century A.D. and was a royal citadel for more
than 18 years.
Return to the hotel and join a cooking
demonstration to prepare a few spicy Sri Lankan
dishes. Enjoy a Sri Lankan rice and curry lunch..
Leisurely proceed to Polonnaruwa and visit
Medieval Capital by Bicycle.
This architect of this lovely city is known to be King
Parakrama Bahu – The Great. The remains of the
Royal Citadel council chamber, prince’s bathing
pool and the Gal Vihare, a stone temple with its
colossal sculptures of the Buddha in a quiet grove of
trees as well as the still functioning Parakrama
Samudra, a man made reservoir, large than our
Colombo harbor, are on easy distance from each
other. The new museum has an excellent scale
model of the ancient city as it was.

DAY 4: SIGIRIYA - KANDY
Travel Time: 2 1/2 Hrs/ 91 kms
Breakfast at the hotel and visit Dambulla Cave Temple. This was built by king Walagambahu in the
5th century B.C. and it is a World Heritage Site. It is
the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples.
The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq.
meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest
area of paintings found in the world.
Thereafter proceed to Kandy
En route visit spice Garden in Matale.

Late afternoon explore the city of Kandy & Bazaar by TUK TUK (Optional). Evening visit the Temple of Tooth, with
its guardian elephants is a deeply significant
Buddhist site that contains a tooth of Buddha
collected from his funeral pyre and this draws
