Bentota is a coastal town in Sri Lanka, located in the Galle District of the Southern Province. It is situated on the southern bank of the Bentota River mouth, at an elevation of 9.8 feet above sea level, approximately 65 kilometers south of Colombo.
Bentota is a popular tourist attraction famous for watersports and contains a local airport named Bentota River Airport and a handful of top-notch hotels. Bentota is also famous for Ayurveda, the ancient art of healing. There is a turtle hatchery located on Induruwa beach in Bentota.
