Mirissa beach is a popular tourist destination. Mirissa is a small town located on the south coast of Sri Lanka in the Matara District of the Southern Province. It is approximately 150 kilometers south of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 4 meters above sea level.
Mirissa beach is a small pristine secluded beach and hence acquired the name, ‘secret beach’. It is also the largest fishing port and one of the island’s main whale and dolphin watching locations. In front of Mirissa Beach is a rock called ‘Parrot Rock’ towering over the water, where you can climb up and take a glimpse of the Mirissa area.
A 15-minute drive from Mirissa Beach is a small coconut farm on a hilltop from where you can enjoy an amazing view of the sunset.
The waves are great at the beach, and hence it is a famous spot for surfing.
