Weligama is a town on the south coast of Sri Lanka, located in the Matara District. Weligama means the “sandy village” so-called due to the presence of a sandy sweep bay in the area.
Weligama Beach is well known for its stilt-fishing for many years. Weligama is 10 minute’s drive from the famous Mirissa beach and there are many small accommodation units developed in the area. Weligama Bay is a nice location to use the beach.
